CLUB PHILOSOPHY
Kent Football United are a club with a unique philosophy based around our T.A.P.M model. This ensures all of our players' development path is focussed around TECHNIQUE, ATTITUDE, PERCEPTION AND MOBILITY. This philosophy builds the base of our coaches sessions and maps the type of players we seek to develop at the club.
IN POSSESSION - comfortable on the ball and able to control, manipulate it how the players wishes through excellent ball mastery. Intelligence and high game understanding/vision. Ability to be confident with the ball at their feet and dribble expressively
OUT OF POSSESSION - dynamic in our transition to win back possession. Confident in regaining possession through various tackling techniques, understanding of when to engage and when to wait for support.
TRANSITION DEFENCE TO ATTACK - forward thinking seeking the earliest forward pass. Dynamic movements to create overloads in order to open up the opposition. Combination play and increased tempo of play in the final third with clinical finishing. The perception to regain possession and build attacks at a changed tempo if the initial attack is not available. Focus on retaining the ball
TRANSITION ATTACK TO DEFENCE - immediate counter press looking to regain possession from a narrow, compact unit shape. Forcing teams into wide area traps to create a strong side for regaining possession. Restricting teams ability to switch play and disorganise our units and lateral lines of defence
RECIEVE THE BALL
LEND THE BALL
DEMAND THE BALL
LOSE THE BALL
HUNT THE BALL
REGAIN THE BALL

PERIODISED COACHING - THE KFU CURRICULUM
“Implementing a player development focus to create a positive system of play”
Our coaching follows a periodised plan where we prioritise the development of players in a particular order. Development is planned in unit blocks which are coached over a 4-6 week period including an assessment. Teams use their midweek session to follow the periodised plan where topics such as (but not limited to) defending 1v1, defending as a unit, defending wide attacks, defending central attacks, counter attacking, attacking in wide areas, attacking using combination play are coached. Teams use their second session to work on reactionary work which will be based around weaknesses they have shown in particular games. As a club we believe this provides our players with the best pathway to develop as individuals as it ensures by a particular time/age they have all covered a particular topic, been assessed, reviewed and can refresh later in the season.
COACH PLANNING
Coaches arriving and throwing cones on the floor making it up on the spot is something which doesn't happen at Kent Football United. The coaching staff submit written plans around the periodised coaching structure we follow and the topic, we as a club, are focussing on. This allows us to ensure sessions are planned thoroughly to meet the required outcomes for the players. In addition, it creates an internal coaching plan scheme of work which can be shared from team to team. The development of the players is the most important thing and to ensure that the four points of our T.A.P.M model (technique, attitude, perception and mobility are being challenged at every opportunity. Player assessments and reviews will take place throughout the season as well as age intensive fitness testing to form part of a development plan for each individual child.
